Proposed Campground Fee Increases on Chippewa National Forest

Your Government counsel.™

The Forest Service recently issued a notice that it is proposing changes to the fees it charges at campgrounds on the Chippewa National Forest. The Forest is proposing an $8 amenity fee for campsite with electricity.  It is also proposing to reduce the base fees at several campgrounds (which ranged from $21-$23) after adding the $8 amenity fee for sites with electricity, among other changes.  The proposed fee changes are based on “an analysis of nearby recreation facilities with similar amenities shows that the proposed fees are reasonable and typical of similar sites in the area.”  Any comments are due by September 30, 2019.  If you are a campground operator, we thought it may be helpful to know of fees the agency was charging at its own campgrounds.
