NPS Increases Its Use Of Digital Entrance Passes That Can Be Purchased Online

Your Government counsel.™

Everglades National Park recently began offering visitors the ability to purchase a Park entrance pass online either through their computer or on their smart phone, and has said that Park rangers accept both paper and electronic versions of the pass.  The pass was made possible through a partnership between Everglades National Park and NIC Inc.  Everglades NP has said that it agreed to making the electronic passes available to visitors in order to provide a more convenient way for visitors to purchase a pass.

In order to avoid any confusion as to whether the passes apply to concession operations, the website states that “separate fees apply for concession operated tours and rentals.”  The entrance pass, which is specific to an individual Park, also can be upgraded in person to an Inter-agency Annual at designated NPS sites.  Online Park entrance passes can now be purchased for Acadia, Theodore Roosevelt and Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks, the Castillo de San Marcus and Colorado National Monuments, Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area (administered by the US Forest Service) and Whiskeytown National Recreation Area.
