Your Government counsel.™

The National Park Service is seeking public comment on a proposal to increase fees for overnight camping at many of the campgrounds in Olympic National Park.  The increase is based on a review of “comparable campground facilities nearby.”  The proposed increase is for Kalaloch Campground is (from $22 per night to $24), Staircase, Heart O’ the Hills, Fairholme, Mora, and Hoh (from $20 per night to $24) and South Beach and North Fork campgrounds (from $15 per night to $20). Holders of the America the Beautiful Access and Senior Lifetime passes would continue to receive fifty percent off the per night campground fee.

I making the announcement, NPS said “Keeping our campgrounds affordable and providing a great experience is our priority.”  NPS stated that the camping fees will fund projects which benefit the visitor’s experience,” noting that campground restrooms were recently remodeled and family restrooms added at certain sites to improve accessibility and fees also purchased new fire rings and 88 new concrete picnic tables.
