The US Forest Service announced that it was giving certain permittee operations on Lake Shasta and Lake Trinity in the Shasta-Trinity National Forest the option of applying for exemptions to continue operations during the closure of National Forests in California.

The US Forest Service announced  a statewide closure of all 18 National Forests in California on September 9, 2020 due to the “unprecedented and historic fire conditions throughout the state.” The need for the fire closures further impacted those permittees which had been able to resume operations notwithstanding the covid-19 pandemic.  Various efforts are underway to obtain relief for permittees impacted by the closures throughout 2020.
