The US Forest Service recently issued a 30-year permit pursuant to the Term Permit Act authorizing the construction of an entirely new recreation facility by a permittee on the Angeles National Forest. The new facility will serve primarily as a Veteran Retreat Center for disabled veterans who are training for mountain climbing expeditions as a way to assist in their recuperation. The facility, which is located at the trailhead for the popular Icehouse Canyon Trail outside of Los Angeles, will also include a general store and coffee shop offering supplies for the general public. The permittee is also authorized to provide to the public overnight lodging, mountaineering and hiking outfitter guide services and educational classes. The permit was issued to The Heroes Project and The Garden Law Firm was proud to provide it with legal assistance in obtaining the permit.
