A federal court recently allowed a mountain bike group to intervene in a federal lawsuit challenging a Forest Service logging project so that the group could address allegations that the project would create or condone new mountain biking trails in violation of federal laws.  The lawsuit was brought by hunters and environmental groups to oppose a logging project.  The plaintiffs apparently were also alleging that the logging project would improperly lead to new mountain bike trails.  The mountain biking group disagreed with those allegations, and the court allowed it to participate to provide its perspective and defend its interests.  The court noted that the group would not have the right to prevent any settlement of the case, but would be limited to having its position heard.
